Position Summary:
The Network Director of School Operations is responsible for overseeing the school operations program across all Mastery schools in the Camden network. The Network Director of School Operations reports to the Senior Director of Operations,serving as a partner to assist on school operations issues throughout the network. The Network Director supports Assistant School Leaders of Operations across all schools, ensuring that operational programming is effectively implemented. The Network Director also works closely with the Mastery central office team to design and implement effective operational systems.


Duties and Responsibilities:
School operations program design

  • Work with the Senior Director of Operations to design the School Operations model for all Mastery sites
  • Provide monitoring oversight of implementation of the School Operations model, providing feedback to
  • school and central office leadership
  • Continuously improve the model through collaboration with school and central office leadership
  • Design and modify a School Operations program handbook & documentation structure to ensure program
  • fidelity
  • Lead hiring of new Assistant School Leaders of Operations at school sites
  • Design induction and training modules for all new Assistant School Leaders of Operations

School operations management

  • Matrix manage a caseload of site-based Assistant School Leaders of Operations to ensure quality implementation of the Operations program at each site through effective strategies and tactical decision making
  • Plan and coordinate regional operations meetings with the Assistant School Leaders of Operations to develop effective problem solving strategies
  • Coordinate operational support for instructional work with school principals
  • Develop school operations teams through effective management coaching of the Assistant School Leaders of Operations

School administration

  • Provide services & guidance to New Jersey schools in high-need support areas, such as transportation management and enrollment
  • Coordinate the recruitment strategy for new schools, in conjunction with the school leadership and Outreach team
  • Provide direct coaching and targeted support to Assistant School Leaders of Operations responsible for opening new schools, particularly around procurement, facilities, and enrollment
  • Provide technical and accountability support to Assistant Principals of Operations to ensure student data (both in the Mastery and authorizer databases) are fully accurate and up to date
  • Coordinate data collection and lead analysis in preparation for site-based audits
  • Work with the Assistant School Leaders of Operations to ensure that non instructional programming (such as food service, transportation, nursing, etc) is both compliant and effectively managed
  • Tackle specialized projects, as needed in the region

Infrastructure Management

  • Design and implement the model classroom structure, in conjunction with the central office Academic team, in all new schools
  • Work with the network Facilities team to ensure that projects in all facilities are effectively managed
  • Work with school leadership to support their planning of the layout and space usage for each facility
  • Support Assistant School Leaders of Operations during new construction & space transitions at each school

Financial Management and Compliance

  • Work with the network Finance team and school leadership teams to build annual school budgets
  • Conduct regular financial reviews of school budgets to ensure effective management of funds
  • Support Assistant School Leaders of Operations at each site to make quality financial decisions
  • Coordinate work between schools and the central office Compliance team to ensure quality data submissions to authorizing agencies

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment while holding responsible parties accountable
  • Ability to work with computers, various software programs and other technology
  • Knowledge of New Jersey public education and charter schools highly desirable but not required
  • Strong ability to coach staff and direct reports to improve skills and effectiveness
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Experience leading school operations or equivalent is required

Physical Requirements:
Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required such as maneuvering in
classrooms and office space-reaching file cabinets, filing, faxing, scanning, coping, typing, mailing, and making phone
calls; Must be able to sit for up to two (2) hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard and mouse and
typing.
